“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus”– Romans 3:19-24
LIGHT FOR NOW: Salvation in Christ rescues men from the Law of Moses.
The Law of Moses was not a solution to the problem of sin and death in humanity. Faith in the resurrection of Jesus from the dead is the legal basis for the justification of men from all that was written against men in the law. Paul affirmed the same; Colossians 2:13-15 “And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it”. By his death and resurrection, Jesus made life available to all men; so men receive the same through faith in the gospel. The ordinances against men were by Moses in the law via the instrument of Angels, “principalities and powers” in context will refer to angelic beings.
Acts 7:53 “Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it”. Hebrews 2:1-3 “Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him”. Our escape from the ordinances and statutes in the law is the so great salvation available in Christ. Faith in Christ therefore is the escape from the Laws of Moses. Glory!
