NOT UNDER THE LAW (13)

“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore, by the deeds of the law, there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus”– Romans 3:19-24

LIGHT FOR NOW: Justification only comes by faith in Christ’s resurrection as it is a product of his resurrection.

The law and Christ speak about men. They both address different things about the men. By the law is the knowledge of sin while Christ is the knowledge of life. More so, the later settled the requirement of the first. Jesus settles the requirement of the law. Matthew 5:17 “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill”. “To fulfill” will not refer to obeying all the ordinances of the law but to satisfy its requirements. Paul explains as much in the book of Acts to his audience; Acts 13:32-33 “And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers, God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee”.
So, right within the writings of the law was the promise of God to solve the requirement of the law. Acts 13:35-39 “Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption: But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption. Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses”. The Law of Moses was not a solution to the problem of sin and death in humanity. Faith in the resurrection of Jesus from the dead is the legal basis for the justification of men from all that was written against men in the law. Glory!

INSTRUCTION: Your faith in Christ justified you and welcomed you into God’s family; acknowledge this.

CONFESSION: I have the life promised of God in Christ – it is called eternal life, that is, the resurrection flowing through every fiber of my being, in Jesus’ name, Amen

QUOTE: Within the writings of the law is the promise of God to fulfill the law’s requirement.
