NOT UNDER THE LAW (12)

“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore, by the deeds of the law, there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus”– Romans 3:19-24

LIGHT FOR NOW: God is God to all but He is father only to those He has begotten in his son.

The law is a verbalization of the state of men; it showed how helpless man is and needing of saviour. Jesus is the only escape from the consequence of sin that the law judges. He is the satisfaction of the demand for justice under the law. The works of the law cannot suffice because it can’t change the fallen nature of men; a new nature is only received by faith in Christ through the gospel. Ephesians 2:11-18 “Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father”.
The law gave a class to fellow sinners who had the law. But there is no difference between the Jew and the Gentiles any longer in Christ; the enmity has been removed; Jesus has made unity/peace and access to God by giving us his same spirit. Having believed the gospel, God is now our father, all who have believed have same father and belong to the same family. Glory!

INSTRUCTION: Acknowledge that God is your father and you are part of his family.

CONFESSION: I am a member of the family of God; he is now my father and I am his son. The love of Jesus has quenched all hatred caused by the law and I live now in his love, so I am not under the law, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

QUOTE: The believer is in the family of God in Christ.
