“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore, by the deeds of the law, there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus”– Romans 3:19-24
LIGHT FOR NOW: You’ve been saved and not under the dominion of the law any longer.
In verse 11 of Galatians 3, Paul echoes “But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith”. Paul says “the just shall live by faith”. Here, Paul quoted from the prophecy by Habakkuk; “Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith” (Habakkuk 2:4). The just shall live by faith; what does he mean? Romans 1:16-17 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith”. The subject of discussion is the power of salvation in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Hebrews 10:37-39 “For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul”.
The writer of the book of Hebrews helps attach a person to the statement of Habakkuk; he lets us understand that it was Christ who was to come and not tarry (Read again: Habakkuk 2:1-4). Just like Paul had explained clearly, believing in the gospel is the belief in the saving of the soul. Hence, the demands under and the reasons for the law on the unsaved man are settled in Christ. Now that Jesus has come, faith is available for all men to receive and be saved. Only men who refused to draw back to destruction because they had not believed and received God’s grace. Glory!
INSTRUCTION: You are saved, hence justified; acknowledge this!
DECLARATION: The reason for the law is settled; its demands for vengeance are satisfied, and I am free from the demands of the law for judgment. My soul is escaped in Christ, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
QUOTE: The saved man is not saved and kept under the law; he is brought out of the law.
