NOT UNDER THE LAW (9)

“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore, by the deeds of the law, there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus”– Romans 3:19-24

LIGHT FOR NOW: The just was declared just by faith in the justifier.

The giving of the law did not bring about unity but made a difference in men. It was an evaluation of men based on their own works of righteousness. Moreover, the failure in one of the laws resulted in a failed assessment in all that was done rightly. Galatians 3:10 “For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them”. I love the way the Passion Translation renders the scriptures above; Galatians 3:10 “But if you rely on works of keeping the law of salvation, you live under the law’s curse. For it is clearly written: ‘Utterly cursed is everyone who fails to practice every detail and requirement that is written in this law!’” (TPT).
No one could ever be justified this way; once you failed in one, you failed in all. Hence, the same scriptures preached righteousness by faith. Galatians 3:11 “But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith”. Galatians 3:11 “It is obvious that no one achieves the righteousness of God by attempting to keep the law, for it is written: ‘The one who is in a right relationship with God will live by faith’” (TPT). James 2:10 “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all”. Notice in verse 11 of Galatians 3, Paul says “The just shall live by faith”. What does he mean? We will see it in the next study. Glory!

INSTRUCTION: Know the scriptures in the light of Christ.

CONFESSION: I live by faith by the faith of Christ. I am just and declared righteous, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

QUOTE: Justification came as a product of Jesus’ resurrection.
