“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore, by the deeds of the law, there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus”– Romans 3:19-24
LIGHT FOR NOW: The law did not come because of faith but because of unbelief.
The law is the document written by Moses to guide Israel in the promised land that they were to go into to possess as God had promised to their forefathers; Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. It was the response of Moses to the unbelief of the children of Israel to his message of faith. Deuteronomy 31:24-27 “And it came to pass, when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law in a book, until they were finished, That Moses commanded the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, saying, Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee. For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been rebellious against the LORD; and how much more after my death?” Moses wrote the book of the law in response to the state of their heart. They were rebellious people, and this was due to their unbelief.
Deuteronomy 32:20 “And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith”. They did not believe the word of God sent to them through Moses. Obviously, the law will only be relevant to the Jew. Gentiles, who are of a nation other than Israel, had no law given to them and had no prophet sent to them like Moses was sent to Israel. So, the law did not come out of faith but out of unbelief. It didn’t come because of faith but because of unbelief. The law was written to a forward generation; it was written to those who were stiff-neck and rebellious towards God; it was written to faithless people. Glory!
INSTRUCTION: Your right standing with God is by faith and of faith, and not by the observance of the ordinances of the law. Know this!
DECLARATION: I have the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, in Jesus’ Name, Amen
