THE PRAYER OF FAITH (15)

“Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing Psalms. Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much”. – James 5:13-16

LIGHT FOR NOW: A man is either in doubt or in faith; a man can’t be in both simultaneously.

In understanding and praying the prayer of faith, an understanding of the term hope is vital. Hope is not about having a positive thinking but an earnest expectation of results based on God’s word. So, what is the prayer of faith? Observe Jesus’ words as documented by Mark; Mark 11:23-24 “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them”. Earlier on in that account, Jesus had spoken to a fig tree; Verse 14 “And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it”. Three days later, as he passed by, Peter called the attention of everyone. Verse 21 “And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away”.
Hear Jesus’ response summarized below:
“…whosoever shall say…” “…shall not doubt…” “…but shall believe…” “…the things which he saith…” “…he shall have whatsoever he saith…” If you must have whatsoever you say, you therefore must not doubt in your heart. Glory!

INSTRUCTION: Don’t live in doubt. That is not your world.

CONFESSION: Prayer involves asking and receiving; therefore, when I pray, I expect to receive answers; I therefore believe that I receive and I have, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

QUOTE: Faith and doubt can not coexist.
