HOW QUICKLY SHOULD I USE MY WORDS (11)

“And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them” – Mark 11:22-24

LIGHT FOR NOW: We confess with our mouth what Jesus’ redemptive work has made out of us.

In our last investigation, we looked into the word confession/profession used by the writer of Hebrews in chapters 3, 4, and 10. It was conclusively deduced that confession is not saying something to happen but saying that which has happened. John 1:19-20 “And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou? And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ”. Here, John was not making anything happen. Rather, he was making an acknowledgment. John 12:42 “Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue”.
The Pharisees did not acknowledge what they had believed. So, whenever the word “confession” is used, it indicates that there must have been a prior event that is being acknowledged. Matthew 3:6 “And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins”. Mark 1:5 “And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins”. The word “confession” in the text above in this case was translated from a word that means to openly acknowledge. They were not coming out one after the other mentioning their sins because he had quite a multitude of them. So, what did they acknowledge? They acknowledged what John preached. What did John preach? Repentance for the remission of sins, that was what they come out publicly to acknowledge. Glory!

INSTRUCTION: Your confession must be what Christ has done.

CONFESSION: I have a good confession, I affirm who I am in Christ, in Jesus’ Name, Amen

QUOTE: The believer’s confession must be in the light of redemption.
