“And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them” – Mark 11:22-24
LIGHT FOR NOW: We confess what Christ has done. In our mouth is the reality that avails to us by Christ’s redemptive work.
The writer of Hebrews in chapter 3 has a lot to say. The word “Apostle” means one who is sent. The word “confession” was translated from a word that means to consent to, agree with, acknowledge an idea, and a submission. This means there is what you are agreeing with. Something must have happened for you to consent to it. So, a confession is a conclusion. It refers to that which is definite and has a conclusion. Hebrews 4:14 “Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession”. Hebrews 10:23 “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)”. What is the profession about? That he rose from the dead and that he is our high priest seated at the right hand of the father making intercession for us. Our profession is what he has done.
Every time the word is used, an action, an event, had been explained earlier that you are consenting to. 2Corinthians 9:13 “Whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men”. That is, your acknowledged subjection to the gospel. Every time the word “confession” is used, there must have been a conclusion spoken of earlier. Matthew 7:23 “And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity”. So, the confession is to acknowledge or witness to a conclusion. Jesus in the above text was not rejecting them but acknowledging that they were never his; he acknowledged the fact that they were not saved. So, confession is not saying for something to happen but saying that which has happened. Glory!
INSTRUCTION: Put God’s word in your mouth.
CONFESSION: I confess what Christ redemptive work has made out of me; I am victorious always, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
QUOTE: The believer’s confession is his acknowledging of what Christ has done.
