YOU’VE BEEN JUSTIFIED (1)

“Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified”. – Galatians 2:16

LIGHT FOR NOW: By faith in Christ, the believer has been justified without the works of the law.

It is important to point out that right in the Old Testament books of the bible. Moses describes the righteousness which is of the law and the righteousness of the faith of Christ. Deuteronomy 30 is explicit on this: “For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off. It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it. See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil” (Deuteronomy 30:11-15). Paul in Romans 10 quoted Moses’ words in Deuteronomy 30 above: “For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them. But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:) Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Romans 10:5-10).
Observe Romans 3:20, 24 “Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin Verse 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus”. You can’t be justified by God and by the law at the same time. This justification is free, it places no demands on the person in question. Romans 3:26 “To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus”. God doesn’t justify works; he justifies faith, and this is not an afterthought. Glory!
