WE ARE MADE RIGHTEOUS

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith”. – Romans 1:16-17

LIGHT FOR Now: The born-again man has a righteous status – it is his nature imparted on him upon the new birth and he can’t lose it.

We saw in our last study that the believer has the gift of righteousness – this is the forgiveness of sins, which he received once at the point of salvation. If forgiveness of sins is a once and for all reality, then righteousness is a once and for all reality. Forgiveness of sins should not be viewed from the perspective of an everyday experience, but an eternal status a man receives at the point he believes. That’s why it is a nature; a status a man received. Observe 2Corinthians 5:19 and 21’ “To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Vs 21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him”. Apart from being justified by faith, a believer is also made righteous. To be made righteous involves every part of our being and is expressed in our lifestyle, words, conduct, and actions towards others. It is essential to know that righteousness is now our new nature.
2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new”. This nature is of God. Ephesians 4:24 “And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness”. Hence, a believer can live a righteous life effortlessly because that is who he has been recreated to be. Ephesians 2:10 “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them”. He naturally walks in good works; hence, he must consciously express this nature of ours in our conduct. This is your reality in Christ. This is who you are. Acknowledge it and walk in the reality of it in its fullness.

INSTRUCTION: Acknowledge your realities.

CONFESSION: I am righteous in Christ, and I have forgiveness of sins in him. Sin will never separate us from God, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

QUOTE:  The believer naturally walks in good works because he is created unto good works.
