“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith”. – Romans 1:16-17
LIGHT FOR NOW: Forgiveness of sins which the believer received once upon salvation is the blessing of righteousness.
In 2Corinthians 5, Paul has this to say in verse 19 and 21; “To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Vs 21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him”. Righteousness comes to us on the basis of what Christ did for our sins. We can take a cue from the blessing of Abraham. Abraham was a beneficiary of God’s promise. Romans 4:7-9 “Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness”. Galatians 3:14 “That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith”. We have forgiveness of sins in the blood of Jesus.
Acts 3:25-26 “Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed. Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities”. Ephesians 1:7 “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace”. For the believer, sin will never stand between him and God for all their sins have been forgiven. Galatians 2:13 “And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation”. You have the blessing of righteousness – your sins have been forgiven. Glory
INSTRUCTION: You have forgiveness of sins – acknowledge this!
CONFESSION: I am righteous in Christ, and I have forgiveness of sins in him. Sin will never separate us from God, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
QUOTE: The blessing of righteousness is forgiveness.
