TWO KINDS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith”. – Romans 1:16-17

LIGHT FOR NOW:  There is the righteousness of the law, and there is the righteousness that comes by faith – They’re not the same.

The scriptures present to us two kinds of righteousness. Apostle Paul, in his epistle, made us see this. Romans 10:3 “For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God”. Thus, the two kinds of righteousness include:
• The righteousness of man and
• That That is of God.
Paul explained further that there are:
• The righteousness of the law and
• The righteousness by faith, respectively.
Philippians 3:9 “And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith”. What is the righteousness of the law, and how does it come? The righteousness of the law is that which obligates a man to fulfill all laws. Romans 10:5 “For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them”. Isaiah called this righteousness filthy rags, for it only exposes man as a sinner. Isaiah 64:6 “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away”.
What then is the righteousness by faith, and how does it come? The righteousness by faith is the righteousness of God made available by what Christ has done and devoid of man’s work. A man accepts it by faith. In essence, this righteousness is not on the basis of human performance but on the basis of faith in Jesus’ performance (his finished work). Romans 3:22 “Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference”. Glory

INSTRUCTION:  Confess your realities.

CONFESSION: I have the righteousness of God made available by what Christ has done, I received it by faith devoid of my works, in Jesus’ Name, Amen

QUOTE:  Righteousness is the status the believer received the day he believed in Christ.
