PRECISE KNOWLEDGE (2)

“I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers, Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints; That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus” – Philemon 1:4-6

LIGHT FOR NOW: The Christian faith is knowledge based. You can’t effectively explore and enjoy the Christian faith outside the parameters of knowledge.

The faith called “Christianity” is a knowledge based faith. Our God Himself is a God of knowledge. Little wonder the prophet Hosea had this to say in Hosea 4:6 “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children”. So, if lack of knowledge is the basis for the destruction, it thus follows that the knowledge bank of a believer is of utmost importance if he must enjoy the Christian faith.

The believer, therefore, is at a disadvantage when he is in ignorance of what avails to him in redemption. The Christian faith, therefore, becomes an adventure in defeat when the believer settles in ignorance and an adventure in victory when the believer is furnished with the full knowledge of Christ’s accomplishment in his finished work
Observe Philemon 1:6 “That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus”. Notice the use of the word “every” good thing in him in Christ. This means it is more than one good thing in him as a result of his identification with Christ.

Paul prayed for knowledge, a precise and accurate understanding, and full recognition for believers on several occasions. Ephesians 1:16-17 “Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him”. The emphasis on the prayer here is on knowledge; it is the knowledge of Christ. Glory!

INSTRUCTION: Don’t lack knowledge; it will be to your disadvantage as a believer if you lack knowledge.
CONFESSION: I do not neglect precise knowledge in Jesus’ Name, Amen

QUOTE: The greatest need of the believer in the Christian faith is the knowledge of the Christian faith.
