PRECISE KNOWLEDGE (1)

“That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus” – Philemon 1:6

LIGHT FOR NOW: Knowledge is vital to the believer. He needs to go after full, complete, comprehensive and precise knowledge of Christ.

Paul, in our key text above, reveals how much importance knowledge is to the believer. Paul’s words in Philemon 1:6 show how effectiveness is dependent on knowledge. The word “communication” used in Philemon 1:6 was translated from the Greek word “koinonia” which means to share or participate in the word “acknowledging” as used by Philemon was translated from the Greek word “epignosis” which is a word that can be broken into two Greek word:

“Gnosis” – The Greek word “Gnosis” is the word for knowledge.

  • “Epic” – It implies “full”.
So, the Greek word “epignosis” refers to full knowledge; it refers to a knowledge that covers all angles; it means complete knowledge or full cycle knowledge. The believer must have this full knowledge of every good thing in him in Christ. For the knowledge to be full knowledge (“epignosis”), then the believer must appraise an in-depth learning of Christ and not a shallow learning of Christ. Notice that the knowledge must be:
    • Full
    • It must cover all angles
    • It must be complete knowledge, not half knowledge
    • It must be a full cycle of knowledge
    • It must be accurate, exact, and precise knowledge.
This is the kind of knowledge acquired of the believer to possess after salvation. This knowledge is the knowledge of every good thing in his Christ; that is,
    • Who is he in Christ
    • What he has in Christ.
    • What Christ can do through him.
  • So, the precise, exact, accurate, complete and full comprehension of the details of who you are in Christ, what you have in Christ and what Christ can do through you is what brings out that effectiveness in the Christian faith. In essence, there is no effectiveness in the Christian faith outside knowledge. The knowledge of Christ is the yardstick to measuring how effective a believer is in the Christian faith. The knowledge of Christ is the believer’s checks and balance in the Christian faith. Glory!

  • INSTRUCTION: Never neglect precise knowledge.

  • DECLARATION: I do not neglect precise knowledge. I go after precise, complete, and comprehensive knowledge of every good thing in me in Christ, in Jesus’ Name, Amen

QUOTE: The knowledge of Christ is the believer’s checks and balances in the Christian faith.
