HOW GOD GAVE

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” – Romans 5:8

LIGHT FOR NOW: God is the first, best, main, and sole giver. He is our giving example.

God commended his love towards us while we were yet sinners. He loved us while we were still in our sins. We had nothing to offer him; we were his enemies when he gave us his love. Romans 5:10-11 “For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement”. We were enemies, yet he commended his love towards us. Romans 8:32 “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” He spared not his own son but delivered him up for us all. God freely gives. Anything that comes from God to us is free – without condition and without change. When we give, we give to meet the needs of others; we do not give with our needs in mind but the needs of others. Just like God, we are to give.

1 John 3:16-17 “Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?” The love of God in a man makes him give to others. James 2:26 “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also”. Our faith is seen by our works. When we give to meet the needs of others, we are showing our faith in God. Conclusively, our giving is to:
• Honor God
• Respect God
• Express faith in God.
This is our nature-giving. This is our culture-giving. Walk in your reality. Glory!

INSTRUCTION: Walk in your reality.

CONFESSION: I give not with my needs in mind but the needs of others, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

QUOTE: The believer has a giving nature and thus, must make giving his culture.
