GIVE FREELY

“But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?” – Matthew 5:44-46

LIGHT FOR NOW: Understand you giving nature and you will better walk in your giving culture as a believer.

We are children of a father who gives to the good and the bad. Luke 6:38 “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again”. “Give and it shall be given to you” is the system of the law. The previous verse was talking of judging others, so give, and it shall be given to you, is the system of this world to pay people back in their coin. Luke 6:30 “And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell”.

Jesus had earlier said give freely without asking anything in return. James reveals the character of God. James 1:5 “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him”.
God gives liberally without finding fault, he gives without condition. When a believer gives, he ought not to expect anything in return; he should give without finding fault. He is not only to give to those who are thankful. He is to give without finding fault, just like our father. The natural man gives as a response but for the saved man, that ought not to be so. The believers’ giving must not come with a condition or as a response. He should give as God has given to him. The father is our example of giving. John 3:16 “ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”. Romans 8:32 “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” We copy our father in the place of giving. Glory!

INSTRUCTION: Your giving should be without conditions.

DECLARATION: I give liberally, freely without condition. I give just like my father, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
