“Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling; and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: and hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him that filleth all in all.”– Ephesians 1:16:22
LIGHT FOR NOW: Knowledge is a necessity for every believer.
An important fact that must be comprehended is that acquired knowledge brings about stability in the believer. “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ: that we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive” (Ephesians 4:11-14).
The phrase “tossed to and fro” refers to an agitated or confused mind. This definitely is not God’s plan for his church; his desire is that we are confident and able to assure others about our faith. He is definitely not an author of confusion. James 1 brings our attention to the fact that a man without accurate knowledge of the father would be unstable in his ways. As believers, we are expected to desire accurate knowledge of the son. The more insight we have of the son, the more the understanding of our relationship with the father. Whilst the love of the father came to us through the death and resurrection of his son, it only leaves us with an intuitive knowledge, we are therefore expected to go after the complete and precise knowledge of the son, the right way and from the right source. This is what our key text above (Ephesians 1:16-22) emphasizes on knowledge. Glory!
INSTRUCTION: Go after precise and exact knowledge of Christ.
CONFESSION: I have the knowledge of the son in its preciseness and exactness as I go after knowledge, in Jesus Name, Amen
QUOTE: A knowledge deficient believer cannot be efficient in his Christian walk.
