KNOWLEDGE, A NECESSITY (1)

“Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling; and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: and hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him that filleth all in all.” – Ephesians 1:16:22

LIGHT FOR NOW: After salvation, the believer’s greatest need is that of knowledge.

There are depths of knowledge one can have on a subject matter. This knowledge could either be a casual knowledge or an expert knowledge. We ought not to be casual about our knowledge of the son. This expert knowledge can also be described as an active participation of knowledge.

Every believer is born with an intuitive knowledge of the son. For example:
• Romans 8:16 “The spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God”.
• Romans 2:15 “Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another”.
• 1John 2:21 “I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth”.
• Hebrews 8:9-10 “Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; Because they continued not in my covenant, And I regarded them not, saith the Lord. For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, And they shall be to me a people”.

However, the believer can not mature on intuitive knowledge. He can only mature on acquired knowledge. Acquired knowledge is not what you have passively. Rather, it depicts what you follow after or you are extremely particular about. Glory!

INSTRUCTION: Be particular about acquired knowledge.

CONFESSION: I am particular about knowledge; I am knowledge driven now more than ever, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

QUOTE: Beyond intuitive knowledge, the believer needs acquired knowledge that happens by the learning of the faith.
