THE BENEFITS OF PRAYING IN TONGUES (4)

“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the spirit, and watching hereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints”– Ephesians 6:18

LIGHT FOR NOW: You cannot explore the spirit life in full when praying in the spirit is neglected.

Paul in 1Corinthians 14:2 has this to say “For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries”. It was established in our last benefits of praying in tongues that tongues are the entry point into the supernatural or the miraculous. Further explanation made it clear that among the nine gifts of the spirit, tongues are the gift that gives you access to the other eight. From Paul’s words in 1Corinthians 12:8-10, the nine gifts of the spirit are listed below:

• The word of wisdom
• The word of knowledge
• The gift of faith
• The gift of healing
• The working of miracles
• Prophecy – the gift of prophecy
• Discerning of spirits
• Divers kinds of tongues
• Interpretation of tongues

By way of categorization, these nine gifts are categorized into three:

1. FIRST CATEGORY: Power Gifts:

3. The gift of healing
4. The working of miracles
5. SECOND CATEGORY: Revelation Gifts:
6. The word of wisdom
7. The word of knowledge
8. Discerning of spirits
9. THIRD CATEGORY: Utterance Gifts:
10. Tongues
11. Interpretation of tongues
12. Prophecy

Since tongues is the entrance into the supernatural and the believer has nine supernatural abilities; therefore, tongues which is the entrance into the supernatural gives the believer access into the other eight supernatural abilities that is in the world of the spirit. So, by tongues your spiritual faculties is sharpened which results in your effective operations in the other gifts of the spirit or supernatural. A person that gives himself to the culture of praying in tongues will have his spiritual faculties sharpened and always alert to spiritual signals and leadings. You rob yourself of your realities in the spirit when you don’t pray in tongues.
