PRAYER VOCABULARY – TONGUES (13)

“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the spirit, and watching hereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints”– Ephesians 6:18

LIGHT FOR NOW: In the place of prayer, the believer should spend more time praying in tongues.

There exists another excuse that has been propagated by theologians who “anti-tongues” which is new tongues means that there won’t be any cussing in your mouth. It is true there should not be profanity in the mouth of the believer, but this is not a new thing. Other theologians have said that tongues are an ability given to preach the Gospel in the language of foreigners, citing the second chapter of Acts. If that was the case, then the tongues that Peter and the disciples spoke would be old languages that already existed. This theory does not hold water, as none of those who heard the disciples speaking in other tongues was saved until Peter spoke or preached in his own tongue. On the day of Pentecost, Peter did not preach in tongues; but he preached in his own tongue (human language) and three thousand souls were added to the church; Acts 2:4-8 “And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. And they were all amazed and marveled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galileans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?”

So, the theory by some “anti-tongues” theologians that tongues is an ability given to preach the gospel in the language of foreigners does not hold water. We had seen that tongues are of supernatural origin; it is the language of our nationality as citizens of heaven. Hence, human language, human vowels and consonants cannot translate the language of the spirit which is tongues. Hence, praying in tongues is not speaking the language of a city in France, Japan, China, etc. Tongues are heavenly; tongues are our language that is of supernatural origin. So, a language of natural origin cannot translate and spell out a language of supernatural origin. Glory!

INSTRUCTION:Don’t relent praying in tongues.

CONFESSION:I pray always in the spirit now and forevermore, in Jesus name, Amen.

QUOTE: Tongues is of supernatural origin.
