LIGHT FOR NOW: New tongues are for those of the new birth.
The Lord General of the church, Jesus Christ Himself declared that the believer would speak in tongues: Mark 16:17 “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues”. When you are praying in tongues, you are in good company, and you are not out of order. It does not matter what some denominations say or argue; if the Lord has said that the believer will speak with new tongues, then the matter is settled. You are right in the plan of God when you pray in tongues. On the day of Pentecost when the spirit of God made his grand entry as promised by the Father, the word records: Acts 2:4 “And they were all filled the Holy Ghost, and began to speak in other tongues as the spirit gave them utterance”. The word “other tongues” there is the Greek word “glossa” from where we get another Greek word “glossalalia” which is “speaking with other tongues”; this is what we’ve been explaining so far as praying in the spirit or praying in the Holy Ghost.
Do you think the Holy Spirit will give you something detrimental to your spiritual welfare? No! Jesus said he will guide you into all the truth, as He is the spirit of truth (John16:13). The devil will do his best to keep you away from tongues because he knows that if you tap into this power then you will no longer be a victim of circumstances. He has come up with all kinds of lies to discount the marvelous prayer language. “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with NEW TONGUES”. In Acts 2:4 which we saw earlier, it was clear that the reality of speaking with new tongues was manifested. Upon being filled with the spirit, they spoke in other tongues (Acts 2:4). I speak with new tongues. Glory!
