PRAYER VOCABULARY – TONGUES (5)

“But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost”– Jude 1:20

LIGHT FOR NOW: Prayer in tongues is prayer that transcends the natural; it is naturally praying in the supernatural.

We look at Jude’s word in the context of his letter (Jude 1:1-3) and in our analysis of the word “common” (common salvation) grammatically and corroboratively, it was deduced conclusively that Jude was teaching that no one differs in what we have. What we have is the same as touching salvation. There is no special salvation. When he says “common salvation”, he meant the same kind of salvation. No one’s salvation is more special than the other; it is the same salvation. No matter the experience, it is the same salvation; none is more special than the other. This truth was also taught to Titus by Paul in Titus 1:4 “To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour”. Paul calls it common faith; he uses faith here for salvation. Roman 1:12 “That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me”. He uses the word “mutual” in describing faith here. He was still speaking of salvation.

Peter weighs in on the same subject and calls it “like precious faith”. 2Peter 1:1 “Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ”. Peter calls it “like precious faith”. He was also referring to salvation. So, salvation is common to all; it is the same for all who are saved. Now remember what Jude calls praying in the Holy Ghost (Jude 1:20) is what Paul called praying in the spirit (Ephesians 6:18). Praying in the spirit will therefore not happen if a man is not first born of the spirit; that is, born again. The prayer is in the spirit (tongues); so if you are not born of the spirit, how do you aim to pray a prayer that is in the spirit? So, praying in the spirit is preceded by the indwelling spirit which is where you are born of the spirit. Glory!

INSTRUCTION:Pray more in the spirit now more than ever.

CONFESSION:I speak with new tongues; it is a sign that accompanies me upon new birth, in Jesus name, Amen.

QUOTE: Praying in the spirit is a realm of prayer that bypasses and surpasses human understanding.
