PRAYER VOCABULARY – TONGUES (1)

“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the spirit, and watching hereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints”–Ephesians 6:18

LIGHT FOR NOW: The believer’s vocabulary in the place of prayer is spirit vocabulary called tongues.

The Apostle Paul’s opening words in our text above gives us a lead to investigating what is so key and central in our study on prayer this month. Paul says “praying always with all prayer and supplication in the spirit”. Notice, after giving us instruction to pray always, he now shows us how that prayer ought to be done always; he says “In the spirit”. Praying in the spirit here as used by Paul is in reference to praying in tongues. So, Paul’s words here give us a lead into investigating what is titled “Prayer vocabulary – that is, tongues”. Praying in the spirit or tongues is the believer’s prayer vocabulary. Praying in the spirit or praying in tongues will thus not be a reality for the unbeliever; meaning, the unbeliever will be incapable of praying in the spirit or praying in tongues as tongues will be a special sign for those that have believed in Christ or in the gospel of Christ.

Mark 16:17-18 “And these signs shall follow them that believe; in my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with NEW TONGUES; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly things, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover”. Notice, he did not say “And these signs shall follow them that believe and them that did not believe”. So, speaking in tongues is a sign that follows believers specifically. Notice also, he did not say the following:

  • These signs shall follow special believers.
  • These signs shall follow some believers.
  • These signs shall follow only pastors.

In essence, it will thus show that speaking in tongues or praying in the spirit is for all who believe. Thus, in our proceeding studies, we will begin to investigate scriptures deeply to unfold that speaking in tongues or praying in the spirit is for all believers. So, if asked, should all believers speak with tongues? The answer is an absolute yes! Again, tongues is the believer’s prayer vocabulary. Glory!

INSTRUCTION:Pray always with and in tongues.

DECLARATION:I consciously give myself to the practice and lifestyle of praying in tongues always, in Jesus Name, Amen

QUOTE: Tongues is not human vocabulary, but spirit vocabulary that bypasses human vocabulary.
