“By this we come to know (perceive, recognize, and understand) that we abide (live and remain) in Him and He in us: because He has given (imparted) to us of His [Holy] Spirit. And [besides] we ourselves have seen (have deliberately and steadfastly contemplated) and bear witness that the Father has sent the Son [as the] Savior of the world. Anyone who confesses (acknowledges, owns) that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides (lives, makes His home) in him and he [abides, lives, makes his home] in God. And we know (understand, recognize, are conscious of, by observation and by experience) and believe (adhere to and put faith in and rely on) the love God cherishes for us. God is love, and he who dwells and continues in love dwells and continues in God, and God dwells and continues in him. In this [union and communion with Him] love is brought to completion and attains perfection with us, that we may have confidence for the day of judgment [with assurance and boldness to face Him], because as He is, so are we in this world” – 1John 4:13-17 (AMPC)
LIGHT FOR NOW: Your encounter with the living word will be founded in your revelation of the written word in the reading of the written word.
The words of Apostle John in his synoptic have been our main stay for now; “In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by HIM; and without HIM, it was not anything made that was made. In him was life; and the light was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not… He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own receive him not… And the word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth” (John 1:1-5, 10-11, 14). It was clearly established from careful examination of the above text that the word of God is a person; a living being, his name is Jesus.
The bible reveals the word of God; it is not the word of God. You can better put it this way: The bible is God’s word written, Jesus is God’s word alive. In other words, the bible is the written word; Jesus is the living word. So, the word of God is a living being and not just paper and ink. Let’s take a look at Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of the soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart”. Glory!
INSTRUCTION: Read the written word to have an encounter with the living word.
CONFESSION: I am born of the word; hence, my realities are found in the word. I rule my world by the word, in Jesus’ Name, Amen
QUOTE: The bible is God’s word written; Jesus is God’s word alive.
