“By this we come to know (perceive, recognize, and understand) that we abide (live and remain) in Him and He in us: because He has given (imparted) to us of His [Holy] Spirit. And [besides] we ourselves have seen (have deliberately and steadfastly contemplated) and bear witness that the Father has sent the Son [as the] Savior of the world. Anyone who confesses (acknowledges, owns) that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides (lives, makes His home) in him and he [abides, lives, makes his home] in God. And we know (understand, recognize, are conscious of, by observation and by experience) and believe (adhere to and put faith in and rely on) the love God cherishes for us. God is love, and he who dwells and continues in love dwells and continues in God, and God dwells and continues in him. In this [union and communion with Him] love is brought to completion and attains perfection with us, that we may have confidence for the day of judgment [with assurance and boldness to face Him], because as He is, so are we in this world” – 1John 4:13-17 (AMPC)
LIGHT FOR NOW: The believer in Christ is an inseparable union with the Father, even as he has eternal reconciliation with God in Christ.
Paul in 2 Corinthians 5:17 echoes “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new”. In the same spirit, Galatians 6:15 says “For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature”. Our emphasis from previous studies has been on the terminology “in Christ”. We have established that the words “in Christ” are the signatures of God. That is what God reckons with Circumcision or uncircumcision does not count in Christ, but the power of the new creation. What matters in Christ is a new creature. What counts is the new creation.
The words “in Christ” are the signatures of God. It is not of God if it is not in Christ. “In Christ” is proof that it is of God. The words “in Christ” are proof that it is of God.
Observe 2 Corinthians 5:17-18 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation”. The word “hath/have” there means that the action is in the past; “Who hath reconciled us unto himself by Jesus Christ and hath given us the ministry of reconciliation”. Observe the tenses; that means that you have it. If he hath reconciled us, then we have reconciliation. That means that we are reconciled. The term reconciled means that we have union. I am in union with God. What we have is reconciliation. I have got a ministry now in Christ Jesus. Glory!
INSTRUCTION: You have been reconciled unto God.
DECLARATION: I am in eternal union with God. I have been reconciled unto God to reconcile others to God, in Jesus’ Name, Amen
QUOTE: The believer is in eternal union with the father.
