“Do all things without grumbling and faultfinding and complaining [against God] and questioning and doubting [among yourselves], That you may show yourselves to be blameless and guileless, innocent and uncontaminated, children of God without blemish (faultless, unrebukable) in the midst of a crooked and wicked generation [spiritually perverted and perverse], among whom you are seen as bright lights (stars or beacons shining out clearly) in the [dark] world” – Philippians 2:14-15 (AMPC)
LIGHT FOR NOW: There is always a reason to give God thanks, find out that reason and you won’t see a reason not to give Him thanks.
We established in previous studies that the most important thing in life is life itself. Thus, Jesus rebuked us, prioritizing what we eat and wear more than life itself. Matthew 6:25 “Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?” Life means opportunity, another chance; it means salvation is possible, miracles are possible, and fellowship is available; only life guarantees these. A thankful heart knows this. In the cold realities of life can emerge complexities; while some are seeking the fruit of the womb, others have challenges with their kids. Some are in need of a wife; for some others, their wives are all the trouble they have; it goes on and on. A person that murmurs doesn’t think deeply; he grumbles at life’s challenges, and he curses life without saying it. He despises God’s greatest blessing.
1Corinthians 10:10 “Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer”. The thankful do not murmur. Philippians 2:14-15 “Do all things without murmurings and disputings: that ye may be blameless and harmless, the Sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world”. Choose to be a thanksgiving station rather than a complaints or murmuring station. Thanksgiving is an attitude and attribute in the Christian faith. Glory!
INSTRUCTION: Count your blessings, name them one by one.
CONFESSION: I refuse murmurings, I count my blessings, and I am thankful for all I am in Christ, in Jesus’ Name, Amen
QUOTE: When you start counting your blessings, you will stop murmuring.
