GIVING THANKS (8)

“Do all things without grumbling and faultfinding and complaining [against God] and questioning and doubting [among yourselves], That you may show yourselves to be blameless and guileless, innocent and uncontaminated, children of God without blemish (faultless, unrebukable) in the midst of a crooked and wicked generation [spiritually perverted and perverse], among whom you are seen as bright lights (stars or beacons shining out clearly) in the [dark] world” – Philippians 2:14-15 (AMPC)

LIGHT FOR NOW: Don’t be so fixated on what you want God to do for you today that you forgot what he had done for you yesterday.

Many times, we despise God’s blessings because other expectations of us aren’t yet met. Jesus rebuked our priorities of what we eat or wear more than life itself. Matthew 6:25 “Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?”.

• It takes life for food to be relevant, not vice versa.
• It takes life for clothes to be relevant, not vice versa.
All those amazing clothes and dresses are only useful to you because of life; if you die now, those clothes become useless to you. The same for food, once you die, food is no more relevant to you. So food is relevant now because you are alive. Life itself is the best gift.

Our soul is more vital to God than the things we have. Luke 12:15, 20 “And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth… But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?” A believer must not fix his eyes on what God has not done that he suddenly forgets what God has done. You must not be so fixed on the needs that you want God to meet that you suddenly forget the ones he had met earlier. You must not be so fixed on what you want God to do now that you forgot what God did before now. We must always be grateful. Glory!

INSTRUCTION: See what the Lord has done!

DECLARATION: I repent of putting material things above life itself. I am far more worthy to God than food and raiment, and I give thanks in Jesus’ Name, Amen

QUOTE: Don’t let your desire of seeing what you want God to do make you suddenly lose sight of what he had done for you in the past.
