“Do all things without grumbling and faultfinding and complaining [against God] and questioning and doubting [among yourselves], That you may show yourselves to be blameless and guileless, innocent and uncontaminated, children of God without blemish (faultless, unrebukable) in the midst of a crooked and wicked generation [spiritually perverted and perverse], among whom you are seen as bright lights (stars or beacons shining out clearly) in the [dark] world” – Philippians 2:14-15 (AMPC)
LIGHT FOR NOW: The believer in Christ is the trophies of Christ victory; he is more than a conqueror.
In our last study, we got into exploring the reasons for thanksgiving or the reason for gratitude, and our first lead was from Colossians 1:12-14. In this text of the scripture, we give thanks because:
• God has made us qualified and fit to share the portion, which is the inheritance of the saints.
• God delivered us from the power or authority of darkness and translated or transferred us into the kingdom of light; which is the kingdom of his dear son.
• We have redemption in his blood – meaning our sins have been remitted or forgiven.
In 2Corinthians 2:14 (AMPC), we have another reason to thank God: “But thanks be to God, Who in Christ always leads us in a triumph [as trophies of Christ’s victory] and through us spreads and makes evident the fragrance of the knowledge of God everywhere”. Because we triumph always in Christ as trophies of Christ’s victory, we give thanks. We also give thanks that God has made us able vessels to spread the fragrance of his grace or knowledge in every place.
Here is another reason we give thanks: “But thanks be to God, Who gives us the victory [making us conquerors] through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:57 AMPC). We thank him for making us conquerors and victorious through Christ. In 1John 5:4-5 (AMPC), Apostle John has this to say: “For whatever is born of God is victorious over the world; and this is the victory that conquers the world, even our faith. Who is it that is victorious over [that conquers] the world but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God [who adheres to, trust in, and relies on that fact]?” Glory!
INSTRUCTION: You are victorious. Give thanks!
CONFESSION: I walk in victory always; I am more than a conqueror; and I give thanks in this reality, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
QUOTE: “In Christ” is the new world that overcomes the world.
