“But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”. – Romans 10:8-10
LIGHT FOR NOW: Don’t give place for doubt.
Doubt, as defined in the Oxford dictionary, is a feeling of uncertainty or lack of conviction. Doubt stems from information one has received that is contradictory or conflicting with what the person believes. No one is born with doubt; it is learned over time from the information digested into the person’s system. James 1:6-7 “But let him ask in faith with no doubt, for he that doubts is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. Let not that person think that they shall receive anything of the Lord”. The moment a believer ignores the fact that he carries answers to his prayers and questions why his prayers have not been answered by God or reasons why he hasn’t received what he prayed for, he becomes defeated because doubts has set in.
In John 20, Thomas made the decision not to believe that Jesus had risen from the dead unless he saw the holes in Jesus’ hands and sides. Doubt is the devils tool to make believers lack confidence in God’s words, thereby preventing them from possessing the promises of God. Taking considerations of your circumstances instead of God’s word and promises will only bring fear and doubts. Glory!
