“He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified)”. – John 7:38-39
LIGHT FOR NOW: At his resurrection, men will receive the spirit as a gift, and that gift will be in them forever.
Redemption is the giving of the spirit, which is the spirit of God. His death is our acquittal, and it satisfies the demands of sins and justice. Our good or wrong deeds do not determine our relationship with God; our relationship with God is only determined by the sacrifice of Christ.
The work of redemption is eternal, and nothing can change it. Living right or faithful church attendance is good, but it doesn’t meet the demands of justice. Christ is the payment for sin, and in his payment, he redeems us. John 10:28-29 “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my father’s hand”.
God is an eternal being, and what he does is eternal. As believers, we can never be removed from the Savior’s hand. Looking further to verse 30 of the above scripture, Jesus goes on to say “I and my father are one” and since you have Christ resident in you, then you are a carrier of divinity – you carry God within you which means you have been restored, redeemed and forgiven. This is the redemptive package we enjoy. Glory!
