SALVATION: GOD’S FINISHED WORK (19)

“And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus”. – 2 Timothy 3:15

LIGHT FOR NOW: You have life

It is worthy of note that Jesus was born under the law. Therefore, his terminologies will be reference it. In John 3:3-5 “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God”.

Jesus explains the spirit using water as an analogy. He says being “born again” is likened to a man born of water and of the spirit. Remember, we said the bible is a contextual book, and in order for it to be understood, one must read it within its context.
Jesus didn’t say the water and the spirit. He said water and the spirit. The word “the” is a definite article, a precise word which shows us that in that verse, Jesus wanted us to focus on “the spirit”. Let’s also look at John 4:13-14 “Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: but whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life”. He says that “the water he will give will spring a man up into everlasting life; this shows that he wasn’t dealing with natural water because no amount of water can cause a man never to thirst again”.

The water used by Jesus is figurative, which he calls everlasting life. This refers all to dealing with the spirit. This water will be coated in the spirit of the believer after Jesus has been glorified. The word “glorified” was used in reference to his resurrection. It is glory in his resurrection, and the proof of his resurrection is the coming of the comforter, which is the spirit. Glory!
