And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus” – 2 Timothy 3:15
LIGHT FOR NOW: You are an extraordinary being
As a new creature, you carry an identity that is superior to that of an ordinary man. The sperm that produced you is not that of a human as the bible says, “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of the incorruptible, by the word of God which liveth and abideth forever” (1Peter 1:23). This is a clear indication that it is the word of God that produced you and not human sperm.
Therefore, it is explicit that your divine nature is completely deficient in the prophets of the old, beginning from the Old Testament heroes of faith to John the Baptist. None of them can be compared to a new creature in Christ Jesus because they were not born again. Everything that happened in the Old Testament times was pointing to Christ (our redeemer).
The brazen serpent made by Moses in the wilderness (John 3:14; Numbers 21:9) was a typology of the savior, Jesus Christ upon whom everyone looked and received life. The laws of Moses were all talking about Christ but in types and shadows. All the prophets desired to see Christ but could not. John the Baptist saw Jesus, Christ did not live in him. He had died before the Lord was glorified.
We believers are the embodiments of Jesus; Christ dwells in every believer. This is why Jesus said that John the Baptist is greater than anybody that was before him, but that the least in the kingdom is greater than John the Baptist. You have to believe in your status that you are greater than all the saints in the Old Testament, for without you, they are not perfect (Hebrews 11:40). Therefore, you are better than the prophets of old. Glory!
