And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus”. – 2 Timothy 3:15
LIGHT FOR NOW: Your redemption is made available in Christ .
Romans 5:11-14 says “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: (for until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. Nevertheless, death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.”
Emphasis on (verse 13), “for until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law” . This means the sin of Adam wasn’t of conduct, but it was spiritual. That is why verse 14 says “Death passed upon all men” because of the effect of Adam’s sin meaning “the figure of him that was to come” deals with the sin men committed under the law, and the law brought the imputation of sins. But all men were not called sinners because everyone didn’t make Adam’s choice of disobedience, but the effect of his sin brought the reign of death to the human race. And our redemption is made available when Jesus was raised from the death.
The redemptive work of Christ is made available by the price Jesus paid.
The question is, “What price did Jesus pay?” In Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”, the payment of sin is death; that means for man to be redeemed from sin, the wages of sin must be paid. This is why Mark 10:45 says “He came to minister to others and give his life as a ransom for many”. The word “ransom” means price or atonement. Jesus came as a price for sin. He wasn’t programmed to die; he obeyed to lay down his life for his friends.
“This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:12-13). That shows us that sins are paid for only in Jesus sacrifice and that man is not justified by what he has done but what Christ has done because the demands of sin was death and not confessions or crying; sin is a legal offence and Jesus has paid the price for man. Glory!
