SALVATION: GOD’S FINISHED WORK (9)

And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus”. – 2 Timothy 3:15

LIGHT FOR NOW: Shine the Light!

Yesterday, we established that what Brother Moses meant when he used the phrase “form and void” he was depicting a spiritual reality. That ‘waters’ in this text refers to people, and darkness refers to the condition of a man’s heart. The word “darkness” is the word ‘Skofia” which means dimness or obscurity. Therefore, it is imperative to know that whenever the words, darkness, and light are used, it is relative to Christ.

Let’s take a look at John 1:5 “And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not”. Let’s highlight the word “comprehended” this is derived from the Greek word ‘katalambano’;the word ‘kata’ shows an attitude used in acquiring, it means to seize, while the word ‘lambano’ means to receive/take from. In essence, the heart of a man is in obscurity until light shines on it, meaning God is the shining light of salvation, and man wasn’t eager or willing to partake in that light.

This is why Apostle Paul explains Genesis 1:3 in 2 Corinthians 4:3-6 “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ”.

Apostle Paul in the above text reveals that the light Brother Moses inferred to in Genesis 1:3 was the gospel of Christ, and once that gospel is preached, light shines in the heart of the believer. Glory!
