SALVATION: GOD’S FINISHED WORK (8)

And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus”. – 2 Timothy 3:15

LIGHT FOR NOW: Christ is the message of the scriptures

The understanding of the scriptures comes by knowing the message of the scriptures, which is Christ. It is important to note that all authority lies with the Savior and what he reveals in the Epistles most especially the Pauline epistles; because wisdom was given to Paul; 2 peter 3:15 says And account that the long suffering of our Lord is salvation, even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath he written unto you. This is why John 1:45, records “Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph”.

How was Jesus found? Through the study of the scriptures, which means in order for you to understand the message of the scriptures, you must give yourself to the study of the scriptures thereby debunking some myths and understanding fully the message of the scriptures. Let’s debunk some myths together.

Genesis 1:1-4“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void: and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from darkness.”

In verse two, the phrase “form and void” is the Hebrew word “toho boho” which means nothing. The question would be, how would the writer Moses infer that the earth had nothing? Except of course, he was communicating a spiritual reality; suffice to say that what Brother Moses meant when he said darkness was upon the face of the waters: (note that waters here is used for people and darkness is used for the condition of a man’s heart). He used the terms figuratively to describe the condition of a man that is not saved. Glory!
