SALVATION: GOD’S FINISHED WORK (5)

“And that from a child thou hast knownthe holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus”. – 2 Timothy 3:15

LIGHT FOR NOW: God’s intentions are expressed in Salvation

All of God’s plans show his intention, and his intentions were expressed in his son, Jesus Christ. Let us take a look at Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

We have already established that His pre-existence and fore-knowledge is for salvation, Now, let us take examine some terminologies used in the above text.
Foreknowledge is the Greek word “prognosko which means to foresee. This doesn’t necessarily mean that an action was carried out. It just means to know. We can see the use of the use word again in 2 Peter 3: 17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness. To foreknow is to know things before they happen.

Predestinate is the Greek word “proorizo”. It has two words “pro” which means “before” and “orizo” which means “boundary”. In Ephesians 1:5, we would also see the use of the word ‘predestinate’ in Ephesians 1:5 says “Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will”.
This means God already foreknew and had mapped out boundaries or plans to save man. God’s intentions were expressed in his actions or can be seen in his actions. God already predestinated us to be adopted as his children. This shows his intentions, which were backed with actions. Ephesians 1:11 “He works all things concerning salvation after the counsel of his own will”; he had chosen us in him from the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4).

We have established God’s intentions for man, but the outcome is in man’s actions. In God’s sovereignty, he gives man the ability to make choices. The question is: Are you going to take part in God’s plan or not? Glory!
