SALVATION: GOD’S FINISHED WORK (4)

“And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus”. – 2 Timothy 3:15

LIGHT FOR NOW: There is no negativity in God.

We’ve established that God fore-knows before anything takes place, which means his time, pre-existence, and fore-knowledge all attribute to his ability as a sovereign being. We also established that God’s sovereignty can only be seen within the framework of salvation and that it would be quite hasty to assume that all the evil happening in the world is from him.

Let us establish with some scriptures what God can and can not do in his sovereignty.
Titus 1:2 says “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began”. We also see in Numbers 23:19 that God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

James 1:13 “Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man”.
1 John 1:5 “This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all”.
Psalm 103:3-4 “Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies”.
John 10:10 “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly”.
In the above texts, we see that in God’s sovereignty, he doesn’t lie. He doesn’t tempt man or inspire evil. He is light and hath forgiven man all his past , present and future sins. We also see that in God’s sovereignty, he reveals the killer.

We have established that God cannot do everything, and he’s sovereign power can only be seen in Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” We can conclusively say that God’s sovereignty or power is regulated only to save. Glory!
