THE LEADING OF THE SPIRIT (27)

“Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit with you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them”. – Ezekiel 36:25-27

LIGHT FOR NOW: The believer in this world will need to stay on the word to walk in his reality in this world.

We’ve been investigating into what the inward witness is not, and we’ll take the investigation further. The inward witness is not anxiety. The leading of the spirit is not worry or anxiety. Philippians 4:6 “Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God”. The word “careful” means to take thought. It is from the word carefulness. Anxiety means to have divided attention. Jesus used it when talking to Mary and Martha (Luke 10:41-42). Jesus said to Martha, “Martha, you are careful about many things”. You are not paying attention. Anxiety prevents you from paying attention.

The inward witness is not murmuring: Philippians 2:14 “Do all things without murmuring and disputings”. 1Corinthians 10:10 “Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer”. The word murmurings means to complain, to grumble, to speak, and to mutter without a cheerful heart. This shows that murmuring is a condition of the heart. You know you are murmuring by what you say when no one is there. It is a situation of the mind, and it is a product of care and anxiety.

Murmuring is actually worrying; it uses the energy for meditation for worrying; so one has to deal with it. On the contrary, a believer ought to rejoice instead. When Paul said do not murmur, he said rejoice (Philippians 4:4). When a believer comes against tests and trials, he ought not to murmur but to rejoice. Finally, the leading of the spirit or the inward witness is not worldliness. Worldliness births complexity with the leading of the spirit. You would need to deal with all of this. Glory!

INSTRUCTION: Stay with the word.

CONFESSION: I am fixed on God’s word, and I reflect my reality in the word in this world, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

QUOTE: Staying on God’s word is a necessity to be led by God’s spirit in this world.
