“Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit with you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them”. – Ezekiel 36:25-27
LIGHT FOR NOW: Believers who learn to expose facts to the spirit before making a decision will easily walk in the leading of the spirit.
In our previous study, as we were still investigating the leading of the spirit, we got into the inward witness. As already established in the previous study, the primary way God leads His sons is by the inward witness, and proper bible study will let us see that it is the most common. Therefore, the inward witness will be the witness of the spirit to our minds. It is an expression, an emotion of the spirit, which is for our minds. Hence, we reiterate that the inward witness is the witness of the spirit of one that has believed the gospel, which endorses, refutes, agrees with or denies a fact that is exposed to it.
It is important to note that facts must be exposed to it. If we do not pass decisions through our spirits, we will have no witness for or against it. Therefore, when we want to make decisions, we ought to pass it through our spirit. It is important to note that the inward witness goes by emotions and expressions from our spirit in response to the fact exposed to it. Emotions are reactions. They are based on impulses. And they can be seen in joy, anger, sadness, excitement, and much more. For instance, except a man is mentally impaired, he can not get angry without a reason.
Therefore, it is necessary for us to expose facts to our spirit because that is the only way we can receive guidance from our spirits in our minds in this manner. The facts to be exposed can be people, events, and things and much more. In following the inward witness, James 1:19 say “Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath”. This implies practicing some restraint. A believer has to practice discipline. Glory!
INSTRUCTION: Practice restraint and be disciplined.
CONFESSION: I follow the leading of the spirit always. I walk in God’s will and purpose for my life, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
QUOTE: Exposing decisions to your spirit is vital in the leading of the spirit.
