“Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit with you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them”. – Ezekiel 36:25-27
LIGHT FOR NOW: The leading of the spirit is not negligent of the mind as the mind is that agent who walks in the spirit or initiates the walk in the spirit.
In preceding studies, we began investigating into the role of the mind in the leading of the spirit. It is already an established fact that the mind of a man is that which walks in the spirit. In Romans 12, Paul gives us an instruction as touching our minds; “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” (Romans 12:1-2).
You have to guard your mind. People go to hell because of their minds, that is, because their minds were blinded from the truth of the gospel, which would have stirred faith in Christ for salvation. “In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them” (2Corinthians 4:4). In Ephesians 4, Paul has this to say in Ephesians 4:17 “This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their minds”.
You must put a guard on your reasoning, the way you think. Don’t forget, the mind of a man is that which walks in the spirit. If the mind of a man is that which walks in the spirit, then you can not downplay the role of the mind in the leading of the spirit. Glory!
INSTRUCTION: Guard your mind with all diligence.
