“Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit with you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them”. – Ezekiel 36:25-27
LIGHT FOR NOW: The believer is not to be conformed to this world but to be transformed by the renewing of his mind through the instrumentality of God’s word.
Previously, we began investigating into the role of the mind in the leading of the spirit. We have a view of this in Proverbs 4:23 “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life”. Guard your heart. Let’s pay attention to Paul’s instructive words in Romans 12:11 “I beseech you therefore brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service”. For Paul to instruct believers not to be conformed to this world, it shows that a believer can be conformed to this world. If he does not want to be conformed to this world, he will have to renew his mind, and that renewing of the mind is the transforming agency of the mind. This means you will remold your thoughts, philosophies, information, principles, policies, systems, theories in your mind and align it with God’s word.
The word “conformed” means to be adapted in an environment that you are not born into. We are of God. 1John 5:1 “Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and everyone that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him”. When we act otherwise, we are conforming ourselves. Some of us force ourselves to be like unbelievers. Paul says to be transformed. Let the word dwell richly in you because that is the agency for mind transformation. Glory!
INSTRUCTION: Don’t be conformed to this world.
CONFESSION: I am not conformed to this world’s patterns and system, I am transformed by the renewing of my mind through the agency of God’s word, in Jesus Name, Amen.
