“Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit with you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them”. – Ezekiel 36:25-27
LIGHT FOR NOW: There is the role of the mind in the leading of the spirit.
Still on the leading of the spirit, lets at this point look at the role of the mind in the leading of the spirit. As seen in earlier studies, the leading of the spirit is what has been planned for the believer. It is like a race where the tracks are already laid, all you do is to follow the tracks. You miss when you cross the line but the tracks were laid before you get into the stadium. That means in the spirit of the believer, the tracks are laid, he should just follow it. Our spirit does not react, our spirit proacts. However, the part of us that reacts is our mind. It is like throwing words into a search engine which then fetches information that its crawlers have indexed. Similarly, the mind can only produce what it has. This is why we can never isolate the mind of man. It is in the mind of man that his behavioural patterns are formed. The mind of man is that which walks in the spirit. We have a view of this in Proverbs 4:23 “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life”.
Guard your heart. In Romans 12, Paul has an instructive information; “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God”. Again, the emphasis is the mind. Glory!
INSTRUCTION: Guard your heart.
CONFESSION: My mind is stayed on God’s word and is renewed by it daily, in Jesus Name, Amen
QUOTE: The behavioral pattern of a man is formed from his mind.
