LIGHT FOR NOW: The believer in Christ is a child of light; he is from the father of light; hence he doesn’t walk in the path of confusion (darkness), he has direction always!
One of the major responsibilities of a believer as he grows in the faith is to find out and follow God’s plan. This is because the plan of God is a clear direction on the way a believer should lead his life. Not all things are God’s design, hence we must not assume things are happening because that is how God wants it. We have to find out what God wants himself. There are things that happen that are not God’s purpose and plans. Also, we must not think that all successful projects are the will of God. People run races, have projects in this world and they succeed because of determination. Hence, one with a strong will, strong desire and drive for success does not necessarily mean he is the will of God. As believers, it is not wrong to have ambitions but our ambitions ought to be checked often. If God has a plan, then you must find out what it is.
It is against this background that there is need to explore God’s provision of leading for us. It is for us to recognize that we have absolute light in him. He gives us insight and foresight and helps us make proper use of our hindsight. The believer has left the path of trials, theories and experiments. He functions in his light. He depends on God’s sufficiency. The believer had left the path of confusion, he is light and of the light; hence, he has direction always. The epistles will begin to shade more clarity on this; “For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light. For the fruit of the spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth” (Ephesians 5:8-9). This shows that the believer is now light in him. The originals of verse 9 of Ephesians 5 is rendered “fruit of the light”. We have the fruit of the light. Glory!
