“But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”. – Romans 10:8-10
LIGHT FOR NOW: You continue in faith, what you started in faith.
Faith is very simple. It has to do with all the things we believe in our hearts. If a person believes the truth, definitely he will experience what the truth feels like – confident, unwavering, peaceful, assured etc. On the other hand if a person believes the lie he will feel what the lies feel like. This faith (whether truth or lies) then translate into behaviors as an exhibition of the fruit of the spirit or fleshly deeds. When a believer knows who he is in Christ and believes this truth in his heart, living out his belief in God becomes effortless. Living out this truth therefore produces the fruit of the spirit in that believer. This then is what is called “transformation”. Romans 12:2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…”
Some people may feel that what has been explained above is an oversimplification of the “faith concept”. When a man’s mind is renewed with the truth of God’s word, transformation follows suit and each portion of our faith will definitely produce a corresponding result. Therefore, gaining knowledge of the truth (Gospel) is the first step towards obtaining faith but until the Holy Spirit persuades you of this truth in your heart it cannot be faith. A man can decide to study the scriptures and try hard to believe them but unless God grants him faith to believe nothing will happen. Unless God opens the eyes of man’s heart, man will not have the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him (Ephesians 1:17-18). Glory!
INSTRUCTION: Don’t start in faith and switch to doubt.
CONFESSION: I am knowledge driven and so I receive the right knowledge of God’s word at all times, in Jesus Name, Amen.
QUOTE: The Christian faith is a walk of faith.
