THE LAW OF FAITH (1)

“But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”. – Romans 10:8-10

LIGHT FOR NOW: At salvation, faith is supplied to the hearer of the gospel.

The topic “Faith” is visible throughout the bible beginning from Genesis to Revelation. Apostle Paul, in nearly three full chapters, has taught us about the failure of the old covenant law to save or justify anyone. He made it clear that no religious Jew or pagan Gentile is capable of keeping the law of the Old Covenant without defaulting any part of it.

Therefore, we all need to accept the good news which Christ offers. We all need to be redeemed by having the law’s wrath satisfied on our behalf by what God has done for us and not based on what we have done.

This is the essence of the law of faith, and this can be seen in Romans 3:27-28 “Because of what law? The law that requires work? No, because of the law that requires faith. For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law”.

Apostle Paul has been able to summarize God’s plan for the salvation of man, and this can be seen in Roman 3:21-26 “Christ redemptive sacrifice on our behalf”. Then, in verse 27 of the aforementioned bible chapter, Paul draws contrast between the two possible approaches to the salvation of man: either by works or by faith.

The outright difference between faith in the old covenant law and the law of faith is that the old covenant law requires you to “do” while the law of faith simply requires you to accept or believe what has been “done” by Christ for us. Glory!

INSTRUCTION: Stay with what Christ has done for you.

CONFESSION: I affirm that what Christ has done for me is more than enough, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

QUOTE: The word of faith supplies faith to the hearer at salvation.
