“Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what is the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places” – Ephesians 1:16-20
LIGHT FOR NOW: There is need for the man in Christ to come to the place of appraisal of his authority in Christ in the place of prayer.
Having done a couple of investigation on this subject, it is important to establish that the understanding of the efficacy of prayer is missed when the understanding of the power at work in the believer is missed and when the understanding of the believers’ authority is equally missed. Hence, in our previous studies, we have looked at God’s power in you. Let’s now look at your authority because it’s critical for you to understand your authority as a believer as far as prayer is concerned. Let’s ask the question; why did God institute prayers in the first place? When God created Adam and placed him in the garden, was he supposed to pray? The answer to this second question is rather easy: Adam was supposed to pray even before the fall. We see that in Jesus, He was the second Adam (God who became a man), and came perfect into this world.
There was no sin in Jesus, no imperfection of any kind, but He prayed. If Jesus prayed, then Adam was supposed to pray. This immediately shows us that you do not really pray because you lack ability or you need help. None of this was Jesus’ condition; Jesus did not only pray but he maintained a constant prayer life. Before you take your place in prayer that guarantees one hundred percent answers, you must understand authority. God gave man authority and that must be fully understood because we must live and fulfill the will and purpose of God on the earth. Glory!
