“Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what is the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places” – Ephesians 1:16-20
LIGHT FOR NOW: The power of God that changes and rearranges things is in the believer.
There is power in operation in every believer. The power in operation in us is the same power that effected the resurrection of Jesus. That same power is the power that raised us from spiritual death into life in Christ – eternal life. So, the believer does not have a power problem. The believer is not power deficient but power sufficient. All the power the believer needs is in him; he will never be more powerful than the day he got saved. “Now to Him who, by [in consequence of] the [action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do super abundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams]” (AMPC).
So, there is power in the believer. But to make this power available, prayer is a necessity. It is on this note that James has this to say in James 5:16 “Confess to one another therefore your faults (your slips, your false steps, your offenses, your sins) and pray [also for one another, that you may be healed and restored to a spiritual tone of mind and heart]. The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]” (AMPC). So, prayer makes tremendous power available and this power is dynamic in its working. Paul in Ephesians 3:20 we read earlier said that this power is in us. In fact, Paul opened up the letter to the church at Ephesus (our key text; Ephesians 1:16-20) with this same undertone of God’s power in the believer. Glory!
