“And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is, but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching” – Hebrews 10:24-25
LIGHT FOR NOW: We don’t invite God’s presence into our gatherings; neither do we ask the Holy Spirit to come down into our gatherings.
We’ve seen that Christian meetings are vital to be prayed for. So, believers don’t just sleep, wake up and gather in their meetings, we pray individually for our meetings and when we come together, we still do same. It is thus crucial for Christian meetings to be prayed for; however we need to know what to pray for. Hence, we established first that we don’t pray for the presence of God to be in the service. We are carriers of God’s presence; hence, when we come together, we come together with God’s presence. 1Corinthians 3:16 “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the spirit of God dwelleth in you?” We are God’s temple; hence inviting his presence into our gatherings is erroneous to the scripture. The spirit of God dwells in us.
Another error in the place of praying for Christian meetings is the error of inviting God’s spirit into the service. In fact, at this point, so many people even sing songs that appears to make the Holy Spirit far away; songs that makes the Holy Spirit look like a visitor. The bible says “the Holy Spirit lives in you” and even Jesus while speaking of the Holy Spirit in the synoptic gospel (the book of John), he said the Holy Spirit will abide (that is, live in us) forever. What does forever mean? Forever means forever. So, why asking the Holy Spirit to come down into your gatherings? Where did he go to? Some will even sing songs of such and be weeping; believers will be emotionally singing songs like, “Holy Spirit, you are welcome, fill this temple with your presence”. That is a two in one error. You are welcoming the Holy Spirit as a visitor who just visited, whereas He lives in us forever. And even add to the error by saying “fill this temple with your presence”. Our songs, prayers and worship of God must tally with the scripture. Glory!

CONFESSION: I am given to prayers now more than ever, in Jesus Name, Amen.
QUOTE: The Holy Spirit is in us, he is not a visitor to be invited every time we gather.
