“And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak” – Ephesians 6:19-20
LIGHT FOR NOW: Praying for ministers of the gospel is replete in scriptures. Thus, you are in disobedience if you don’t do so.
We pray always for all saints and definitely we include our ministers (pastors and leaders in the church). The Apostles asked that we pray for them. This implies that the minister of the gospel ought to be prayed for, particularly for the work of ministry. In Colossians 4:2-4, Paul says “Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving; withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds: that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak”. We are to pray for utterance and boldness to speak God’s word as they ought to speak.
Acts 4:29 “And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word”. In praying for ministers of the gospel, we ought to also pray that their ministry is received without hindrance and their lives to be preserved. Romans 15:30-31 “Now I beseech you, brethren for the Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me; that I may be delivered from them that do not believe in Judaea and that my service which I have for Jerusalem may be accepted of the saints”. 2Thessalonians 3:1-2 “Finally, brethren pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you. And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have no faith”. We equally pray for the ministers of the gospel and include their household. that they are delivered from wicked men and unreasonable men; that men with ill-will and ill-strategy against them will be disappointed. Glory!
INSTRUCTION: Pray for your Pastor.
CONFESSION: I pray for my Pastor that he is delivered from wicked and unreasonable men, in Jesus Name, Amen.
QUOTE: In the place of prayer, we are not ourselves focus; we are also others inclusive.
